Michele Mariotti was born in Pesaro, Italy, in 1979. He studied composition at the Conservatorio Rossini in Pesaro and, in 2004, received the suma cum laude in conducting at the Accademia Musicale Pescarese in the class of Donato Renzetti. During this time was invited to conduct the Filarmonica Marchigiana and the Orchestra Sinfonica of Pesaro. In September 2005 he debuted his first opera at the Teatro Verdi in Salerno with Rossiniís Il Barbiere di Siviglia.

Between 2006 and 2008 he conducted opera in Fano (Gianni Schicchi), at the Wexford Festival (Donizettiís Don Gregorio), at Comunale of Bologna and Comunale of Ferrara (Italiana in Algeri), at Regio of Turin (Barbiere di Siviglia) in Lima (Rigoletto) in Menorca (Puritani) at Las Palmas (Barbiere di Siviglia), in Reggio Emilia (Nabucco) for the Festival Verdi, in Liegi (Barbiere di Siviglia) and many concerts with the Toscanini Orchestra, the Orchestra Filarmonica Marchigiana, the Orchestra of Maggio Musicale, the Milanís Orchestra of Pomeriggi Musicali, the National Orchestra of Ukraine at Festival of Santander, at Carlo Felice of Genova, at Barcelonaís Liceu, at Reggio Emiliaís Valli, at Perelada Festival, at Champs Elysées of Paris with tenors Juan Diego Florez and Rolando Villazon.

In 2009 he conducted in Bologna a great production of Belliniís Puritani (a dvd for Decca will come) and Gazza ladra. He also conducted two concerts with Filarmonica Toscanini in Piacenza and Parma two concerts in Milan with Pomeriggi Musicali, two concerts with the Filarmonica of Bologna and Don Pasquale at Turinís Regio, Traviata at Macerata Sferisterio, Barbiere di Siviglia in Washington, Concerts in Bologna, Nabucco at Parma Festival Verdi and Barbiere di Siviglia at Los Angeles. In January 2010 he conducted the Toscanini Orchestra of Parma for the New Year Concert, he also recorded a Decca cd with Juan Diego Florez and Orchestra and chorus of Teatro Comunale of Bologna. In Bologna he conducted Idomeneo, Carmen and concerts. Idomeneo also in Ferrara, Modena, Ravenna and Reggio Emilia. At Real of Madrid he conducted a Concert, he made his debuts at the Scala of Milan with Barbiere di Siviglia and at Rossini Opera Festival opening the festival with Sigismondo and closing with Stabat Mater. He conducted also Barbiere di Siviglia at Massimo di Palermo, Stabat Mater at Comunale di Firenze, Idomeneo in Piacenza with the Comunale di Bologna and did a recording for Sony with the orchestra of Comunale of Bologna. He began 2011 concucting in Reggio Emilia a Concert Ė present the italian President Napolitano- for the anniversaey of the unification of Italy and Italiana in Algeri in Bilbao.

In November 2007 he opened the season 2007/2008 of the Comunale of Bologna conducting Simon Boccanegra, after this success the Theater appointed him as his new Principal Conductor following Daniele Gatti. For the next seasons he will conduct in the following years operas and concerts.

Future engagements include Risorgimento and Il prigioniero, Cenerentola, Turandot, Barbiere di Siviglia and several concerts in Bologna; Gazza ladra at Semperoper of Dresden; Puritani and Carmen in Japan; will open the 2013/2014 season of Liceu of Barcelona with La battaglia di Legnano and will conduct this title at Festival Verdi of Parma 2011 too; Concerts with the Oregon Symphony Orchestra; Guillaume Tell at Rossini Opera Festival, in Paris will conduct Puritani at Opera Bastille; at the Met of New York will conduct Carmen, Puritani and Donna del lago; Barbiere di Siviglia in Chicago; Turandot in Zurich; at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden will conduct Donna del lago, will go back to La Scala with Le Comte Ory.
